Dead [Women] Poets Society Blog

We're in t'North!

We're so delighted to have been featured in the latest issue of The North magazine. The majority of our team at Dead [Women] Poets Society are based in Northern England. We were even founded up North, with our first Séance events being held in Bradford and Durham, supported by the brilliant New Writing North and our Northern partner organisation The Writing Squad. We love it here, and truly believe there has never been a better time to be a Northern writer.

The North magazine is bi-annual poetry magazine published by The Poetry Business - a brilliant Northern press which has published Jasmine (one of our co-directors) as well as many of the guest poets in our events. One such poet, Lizzi Hawkins, has even written a review of our Sheffield event for our feature in this issue, and we couldn't be happier with it!

Lizzi Hawkins will resurrect

Mary Oliver at our upcoming

(postponed) Leeds event.

This issue of The North, number 64, is the 'writing together' issue and celebrates the success of The Poetry School's virtual poetry workshops during lockdown. Get your copy here to read our feature and all the fabulous poetry in this issue - plus, an essay by James Shuyler on one of our favourite American dead women poets, Elizabeth Bishop!
