Azfa Awad

Azfa Awad is an award winning page and performance poet currently studying English ad Creative Writing at Warwick university. She won the Oxford Tower Poetry competiton in 2013 for her poem ‘Origins’ and became the first Oxford Youth Ambassador for Poetry. Her role involved sharing her love for poetry with the young people of Oxford through writing workshops, collaborating with composers at Oxford University to write an aria for opera as well as meeting the Queen! Her most recent project was ‘Map of Me’ a two-woman performance poetry show with Rosemary Harris that explores the relationship between a young female refugee and an immigration officer (in collaboration with the Arts Council, Apples and Snakes, Half-Moon Theatre as well as other partners) which they toured around Britain. She was recently feautred in Alison Baskerville’s ‘Women Create Change’ exhibition. Her debut pamphlet, Scars Shaped Like Hope, can be purchased online here.
